Elite WR raves about Arkansas visit

Tyrie Cleveland

Highly sought receiver Tyrie Cleveland had a hard time saying what stood out the most during his visit to Arkansas on Wednesday and Thursday.

“Everywhere I went stood out to me , like everything they showed me was outstanding,” Cleveland said. “The facilities are top notch, I was really surprised with that the most.”

Cleveland, 6-3, 190, 4.32 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Houston Westfield High School is one of the more electrifying receivers in the nation and he showed that with an outstanding performance at The Opening at Nike headquarters.

He was shown how he could make an impact on the Razorback offense.

“They said I'm the missing puzzle of their project and I can come in right away and play if I can learn the offense and adapt to it,” Cleveland said.

Cleveland, whose lead recruiter is defensive backs coach Clay Jennings, has more than 40 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, LSU, Alabama, Florida, Baylor and Texas A&M. He has recorded best times of 10.50 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.9 in the 200.

The trip helped the Hogs in their quest to sign the speedy playmaker.

“It help them big time because I got time to see everything they had to offer,” Cleveland said. "Like I love the coaches there. They most definitely caught my attention.”

ESPN rates him the No. 13 receiver and No. 94 overall prospect in the nation. Does Arkansas have chance of getting one of his five official visits?

“They most likely would,” Cleveland said.
