GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — JJ Schwarz hit an RBI single in the sixth inning to lift Florida over Florida Atlantic 2-1 on Sunday in the Gainesville Regional.

The Gators (47-16) eliminated the Owls (42-19) from the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Super Regionals for the fifth time in eight seasons under coach Kevin O'Sullivan, and first since 2012.

Florida, the No. 4 national seed, will play the winner of the Tallahassee Regional on Friday.

Alex Faedo (5-1) allowed just three hits and one run and recorded a career-high six strikeouts in six innings.

FAU's Sean Labsan (2-3) allowed two runs and five hits in five innings. Ricky Santiago drove in the lone run for the Owls.

The game was delayed 67 minutes at the start of the ninth because of lightning.
