Arkansas Hawks general manager Bill Ingram believes Coach Mike Anderson and his staff are getting a great shooter in guard Daryl Macon, who publicly committed to the Hogs on Tuesday.

“His range is unlimited,” said Ingram, who's also the executive director of Real Deal in the Rock. “He has worked on his mid-range shot and that’s very good too and he’ll surprise you with his athleticism I think that will be the biggest surprise when people see him play.”

Macon, 6-3, 185 pounds of Holmes Community College in Mississippi picked the Razorbacks over scholarship offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Louisville, Kansas State and Memphis.

He was named first team Junior College All American honors as a freshman after averaging 23 points, while shooting 46.5 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from beyond the three-point line.

Macon was named to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All Arkansas team as a senior at Little Rock Parkview while averaging 21.2 points. Ingram said Arkansas took notice of Macon while playing for the Hawks the summer before his senior year.

“I think that’s when they really picked up on his skill set ands it’s similar to things they like,” Ingram said. “Of course we all know he’s a great shooter, but if you look at his stats, he started doing a lot more than that his senior year. He started rebounding, he’s really good passer and has a great basketball IQ and his work ethic is off the charts.”
