Killian signs with Rockies

Starter Trey Killian of Arkansas delivers a pitch Friday, June 5, 2015, against Missouri State during the first inning of the Super Regional at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas pitcher Trey Killian has signed a professional contract with the Colorado Rockies and will forego his final season of collegiate eligibility.

Killian, a right-hander, was selected by the Rockies in the ninth round of the MLB Draft earlier this month. He is coming off a 3-5 junior season in which he recorded a 4.76 ERA.

Killian's overall record at Arkansas was 10-17 in 24 starts. He was the Razorbacks' Friday starter the majority of his final two seasons.

According to MLB.com's Jim Callis, Killian signed for $150,000. His draft slot (No. 257 overall) was valued at $165,000.

He is the second of four drafted Razorbacks to sign professionally since the end of the season. Bobby Wernes signed with the Houston Astros, while outfielders Andrew Benintendi and Tyler Spoon are expected to sign with the Boston Red Sox before the July 17 deadline.
