Highly regarded Texas DE impressed with Hogs

Junior defensive end Lagaryonn Carson liked what he saw of Arkansas.

Arkansas received the first visit from junior defensive end Lagaryonn Carson on Saturday and he left impressed.

“I think the weight room would be pretty nice for me and they have a couple more things like the place to relax (players’ lounge),” Carson said. “It looked pretty nice.”

Carson, 6-5, 260, Texarkana (Texas) Liberty-Eylau left with a scholarship offer from the Hogs to go along with eight others from schools like Alabama, Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M and Tennessee. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He’s being recruited by tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr.

“He just tells me to do good in school and I call him when I get the chance,” Carson said. “He can’t call me so I call him and we talk about school and how good it is up here and now I have seen that for myself.”

Carson recorded 71 unassisted tackles, 30 assisted tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, 5 forced fumbles along with blocking 3 punts as a sophomore. He’s in the process of lining up other trips.

“We have just started setting it up and I wanted Arkansas to be my first one,” Carson said. “Next one is going to be Alabama and then I am going to see Baylor and all them.”

He is the cousin of Texas A&M running back Tre Carson.

“He tells me don’t listen to all that and go visit the school for yourself and see how you like it, don’t just let anybody tell you how it is,” Carson said.

Carson is looking to narrow his list during the really art of his junior season.

“I will probably have some schools up top, my top schools, my top five,” he said.
