The Recruiting Guy

Jones likes direction of Hog offense under Enos

Smackover junior wide receiver Jordan Jones received a scholarship offer from Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema after he was timed at 4.34 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the Razorbacks’ Elite Camp in June.

Arkansas receiver commitment Jordan Jones was able to learn more about offensive coordinator Dan Enos and his plans for the offense during a visit on Saturday.

“I like it, I think it's great,” said Jones, who was one of eight junior prospects visiting. “He wants to throw, but keep the ground game sharp.”

Jones’ 4.34 speed in the 40 yard dash and his playmaking ability in the open field will be a welcomed addition to the Razorback roster for the 2016 season. He said Enos’ offense will move him around.

“Yeah, in many different spots just so the defense can't double up on me.” Jones said.

Jones recorded 37 receptions for 808 yards with an average of 21.8 yards per catch, 12 touchdowns as a junior. He had 25 catches for 687 yards with an average of 27.4 yards per reception and 10 touchdowns while being named to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's All-Arkansas Preps Super Sophomore team.

He and several in-state athletes will compete at the Dallas Nike Opening Regional in Arlington, Texas on Sunday. Jones said felt comfortable with Enos.

“I think he is a great coach and he’s a funny man,” Jones said. “We had a meeting watching film and we just had a great connection. I like what he is going try and do with the offense and what he will try to do with me whenever I'm ready and able to play.”

Jones also shined on the basketball court and led the Buckaroos in four of five catorgeyies, including scoring with 14.95 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and .5 blocks a game. He was second on the team in steals with 1.8 per game.

Prior to making the trip to Fayetteville, Jones said he would try and recruits others to be Razorbacks.

“I tried to help out, but they seem to like Arkansas enough,” Jones said. “I really didn't have to say much.”

He and receivers coach Michael Smith continued to build upon their relationship.

“He is the bomb,” Jones said. “He is like a dad to all of us. He is funny and he is still pretty hip. He isn't gonna play with you, he keeps it real.”
