The Recruiting Guy

Highly regarded 2017 prospect looking to visit Hogs

Sophomore LB Baron Browning impressed Coach Bret Bielema during a camp last summer and received an offer from the Hogs.

— Sophomore linebacker Baron Browning received his third scholarship offer from Arkansas after impressing Coach Bret Bielema in an Elite Camp last summer and he plans to make a return trip in a few months.

“Just to visit, talk to the coaches and meet Coach (Vernon) Hargeaves, the new linebackers coach and build a relationship with him,” Browning said.

Browning, 6-2, 220 pounds of Kennedale, Texas, had offers from Baylor and Oklahoma State prior to his Arkansas camp performance. He’s added more offers from schools like Washington, UCLA and Texas Tech. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He attended the Nike Football The Opening Regional held at Arlington Lamar High School on Sunday to support some of his teammates.

His offers came despite missing most of his sophomore season because of a shoulder injury. His rehab is going well.

“I’m way ahead of schedule,” Browning said. “I’m supposed to get cleared in a month or so. I can’t wait to get back on the field with my teammates.”

The injury severed as a life lesson.

“It taught me to appreciate the small stuff because it can be taken away at anytime,” Browning said. “Like my offers, the recruiting process, my football career just taught me to enjoy the little things and take it more serious and don’t take it for granted”.

Browning has added about 15 pounds since competing at Arkansas’ camp where he ran an impressive 4.62 seconds in the 40 yard dash and 4.32 in the pro-shuttle.

He has a solid amount of interest in the Razorbacks

“I like the environment,” Browning said. “It’s like real laid back and made me feel at home. It’s not too big, it’s not too small. It’s big enough serve me, but small enough to know me. I like how the coaches are and they make me feel at home.”

He likes the direction of the program under Bielema’s leadership.

“They had a 30-0 shunk on Ole Miss,” Browning said. “He’s doing a pretty good job and I believe in his plan for the team.”
