The Recruiting Guy

Arkansas coaches show love to highly recruited DE

Defensive end Isaiah Chambers.

— The Arkansas coaching staff recently made quite an impression on defensive end Isaiah Chambers.

Prior to arriving at the Nike Football The Opening Regional in Arlington, Texas on March 15, Chambers was bombarded by the Hogs coaches on Twitter.

“Every single one of them hit me up the same day,” said Chambers at the Nike Regional. "It was seven coaches I literally talked to. They messaged me constantly like every ten minutes. Another coach would follow me and I would follow them back and then they would message me.”

Chambers, 6-3 1/2, 258, 4.81 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Houston, (Texas) Aldine MacArthur has 18 scholarship offers, including Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Michigan and TCU while Arkansas is showing strong interest.

“They saw my film as a staff and they liked it and they want me to be a Razorback,” Chambers said.

The interest is mutual.

“They’re in the SEC and I know they’re big on O-linemen and D-linemen,” Chamber said. “Their fronts are good and they’re probably good coaches too.”

Chambers is impressed that NFL All Pro defensive linemen J.J. Watt walked on at Wisconsin and developed into an All American while Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema was in Madison.

“That shows they know what they’re doing coaching wise and developing players,” Chambers said. “Especially, if you have the work ethic.”

Chambers has a 3.1 grade point average and is interested in majoring in criminal justice and is looking to go into law enforcement.

“I just like the thrill of it,” he said. “It’s not football but it’s….football you like to go get it or go chase something, be active. I want to do something like that I don’t want to sit in an office all day.”

He wants to make a difference and help keep streets safer.

“Getting bad people off the street,” Chamber said. “Crime is getting worse.”
