Arkansas gymnastics sent to West Virginia

Sydnie Dillard of Arkansas competes on the beam during the meet against Missouri in Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville on Friday Feb. 27, 2015.

No. 19 Arkansas was selected Monday to compete in the NCAA Morgantown (W.Va.) Regional along with No. 2 Florida, the co-defending national champion. Also at the regional are No. 11 Stanford, No. 14 Illinois, No. 25 New Hampshire and host West Virginia.

The meet will take place at Cary Gymnasium on the West Virginia campus at 3 p.m. on April 4.

The other five regionals are being hosted by Auburn, California, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Iowa State. The top two teams at each of the six regionals will qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Fort Worth on April 17-19.

“We are excited about the matchups,” Arkansas Coach Mark Cook said. “We’ve traveled to Morgantown for competitions before, so we are familiar with the trip.”

The Razorbacks, led by all-around competitors Amanda Wellick and Paige Zaziski, are coming off a 195.925 showing at the SEC Championships last weekend. Arkansas’ second-best score at SECs put the Razorbacks in sixth place.
