The former Arkansas defensive tackle entered the draft after his redshirt sophomore season, in which he made 46 tackles, including 11.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, and earned AP second-team All-SEC honors.
He also recovered three fumbles, which tied for the SEC lead and No. 10 in the country. He returned one of those fumbles 14 yards for a touchdown against Northern Illinois.
As a redshirt freshman, Philon made 46 tackles, including 9 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.
He was projected to be the second or third Arkansas player taken in the draft, but he is the fourth.
Philon joins defensive end Trey Flowers (fourth round, Patriots), linebacker Martrell Spaight (fifth round, Redskins) and defensive back Tevin Mitchel (sixth round, Redskins).
This is the first time Arkansas has had four defensive players selected in the same draft since 1989.
