Dallas Keuchel has been named the American League Pitcher of the Month for April.

The former Arkansas standout leads the majors in ERA (0.73), WHIP (0.73) and is 3-0 in five starts for the Houston Astros.

In 37 innings of work, Keuchel has allowed only three earned runs on 16 hits and 11 walks, while striking out 22 batters. He also has the most innings pitched of any player that hasn't allowed a home run.

His .130 batting average against is the second best in the majors and only .0005 behind the Pittsburgh Pirates' Francisco Liriano.

The start has been a continuation of Keuchel's season last year, when he went 12-9, had a 2.93 ERA, won a Gold Glove and led the American League with five complete games.

Keuchel is scheduled to make his sixth start of the season Monday night against the Texas Rangers. The Astros have won 10 straight games and have the best record (18-7) in the American League.
