Enos sees Michigan linebacker that's highly interested in Hogs

Michigan linebacker Jalen Cochran appears to be getting a second visit from Arkansas soon.

Arkansas quarterback coach and offensive coordinator Dan Enos, a Michigan native, was back in his home state on Monday and visited the school of linebacker Jalen Cochran.

Cochran, 6-4, 230, 4.79 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Canton, (Mich.) High School has eight scholarship offers from schools like Iowa, Central Michigan, Miami of Ohio, Toledo and others. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Enos evidently liked what he saw during a workout.

“I’m really excited about it,” Cochran said. “Because I was coming in kind of anxious because I really don’t have contact with him all that much, then he saw me work out and he was really impressed.”

Michigan State, Purdue, and Michigan are others showing interest in Cochran. He said defensive cooridnator Robb Smith is planning to visit the school May 20.

“He told my coach the defensive cooridnator would come back in a couple of weeks,” he said. “ “So I’m really excited about it. “

Cochran averaged 5.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2 assists for Canton’s basketball team that went 16-6 for the season. He said he’s very interested in the Razorbacks.

“I don’t really know a lot about them, but I’m sure I can take a visit down there and get to know the coaches more,” Cochran said. “I know they’re in a very tough conference, so I’m really excited about them coming to see me.”

Cochran, who had 53 tackles and 3 sacks this past season, might attend an Arkansas camp this summer.

“I haven’t planned on my college camps yet, but I plan on going to four or five of them that I would like to see,” Cochran said.

Because of his frame, some schools are projecting him to play on the line.

“There’s a few schools recruiting me for just D-end because they think I’ll be bigger in college,” Cochran said. “Some think I can play linebacker because I have speed and I can cover a lot of ground.”

Cochran favors playing linebacker.

“I think I’m comfortable playing linebacker because I like standing up,” Cochran said.
