Friday recruiting tidbits

Arkansas saw some of the top 2016 and 2017 prospects in Texas on Thursday.

Razorback defensive backs coach Clay Jennings visited Waco, (Texas) La Vega to check on highly recruited cornerback Parrish Cobb and sophomore tight end Kedrick James.

James, 6-7, 243, 4.81 has several offers, including Arkansas and is considered a top recruit in the 2017 class. He said he's impressed with Coach Bret Bielema's track record of putting tight ends into the NFL and J.J. Watt going from a walkon at Wisconsin to an All Pro with the Houston Texans. He said he'll probably visit Fayetteville this summer.

He attended Arkansas' basketball camp last August. James said his grandmother teaches at Arkansas and his grandfather also taught at Arkansas before moving on to Missouri. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Jennings also visited Waco High School to check on highly regarded cornerback Eric Cuffee, who is looking to visit the Hogs in June.

Power forward Ebuka Izundu and Charlotte (N.C.) Victory Christian Coach Aureice McCain are expected to arrive in Fayetteville about six o'clock tonight for this weekend's visit.

Power forward Tyler Cook said he stands 6-9 and weighs 235. He said his relationship with Coach Mike Anderson and associate head coach Melvin Watkins along with style of play are the main factors for him including Arkansas as one of his top six schools.

Cook of St. Louis Chaminade College Prep also lists Florida, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri and Virginia as finalists.

Arizona State will visit Little Rock Christian on Monday to check on running back Damarea Crockett. He received an offer from Army this morning.

Ole Miss visited Prairie Grove on Thursday to check on tight end Dylan Soehner.

Ole Miss visited Pulaski Robinson on Wednesday to see Hog commitment T.J. Hammonds and sophomore offensive lineman Sanderson Hines.

Running back D'Vaughn Pennamon of Manvel, Texas said he's still planning to visit Arkansas this summer. He received his 20th offer on Thursday when Ole Miss offered.

Arkansas safety signee Willie Sykes of Spring, Texas recorded a 21.9 time in the 200 meters this spring. He had a best of 21.7 as a junior.

This has been stated earlier, but Arkansas didn't offer small forward Dikembe Dixson and will not bring him in for an official visit.

Adam Zagoria of SNY.TV reports Florida commits Noah Dickerson and KeVaughn Allen plan to meet new Gator coach Michael White and go from there.
