Women's golf advances to NCAA Championships

Gabby Lopez hits from the first tee on Friday, June 21, 2013, during the first round of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers.

The Arkansas women's golf team advanced to the NCAA Championships Saturday in St. George, Utah.

Led by Alana Uriell and Gabriela Lopez, who tied for second individually, the Razorbacks shot a 290 to finish in third place and earn a spot in the NCAA Championship in Bradenton, Florida.

Uriell and Lopez's finishes are the highest in program history. Arkansas had never had two golfers finish in the top five before this year.

It will be the Razorbacks' first trip to the NCAA Championships since 2013 and seventh in school history.
