Agim a terror on the field, not so off

Arkansas defensive end target McTelvin Agim.

Hope defensive end McTelvin Agim is recognized as one of the top prospects in the 2016 class, but for people that know him the best, he’s just as well thought of off the field.

Athlete director and assistant principal Bill Hoglund doesn’t see much of Agim for good reasons.

“This is one of the times if I wasn’t the athlete director or assistant principal, I would never see the kid because he’s never in the office,” Hoglund said. “He’s never in trouble. “

Hoglund gave an example of what a teacher at the school thinks of Agim.

“She said ‘If I could have 20 of him in class, that would be the ideal class’,” Hoglund said. “That’s high praise and from an English teacher too.”

Agim, who has more than 20 scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, Auburn, Baylor, Clemson and others, recorded a 365 pound bench press in testing this week, which is an increase of 20 pounds in six weeks.

“He’s well liked, but he’s still kind of quite,” Hoglund said. “He’s not boisterous.”

Hoglund said Agim is a leader by his actions.

“He doesn’t have to say a whole lot, he leads by example and it's a fun environment to be around,” Hoglund said.

He praised Coach Jay Turley and his staff for Agim’s progress on and off the field.

“The coaches have done a great job with him,” Hoglund said. “Coach Turley and his staff have done what I think is a marvelous in taking him from a pretty raw and pretty excitable young man to a much more mature young man.”
