Hogs going after Florida State commitment

Defensive end Keir Thomas, a Florida State commitment, plans to officially visit Arkansas.

Arkansas beat out Florida State for offensive lineman Jalen Merrick and defensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt’s signature in the 2015 class and they’re hoping for a repeat for the 2016 class.

The Hogs are going hard after defensive end Keir Thomas, a Florida State commitment from Miami Central.

He and his teammate and linebacker Donavan Thompson, who also has an offer from the Hogs, are planning to visit Fayetteville this summer with June looking the most likely time.

Linebackers coach Vernon Hargreaves has been aggressive in letting Thomas and Thompson know he wants them in a Razorback uniform.

“He pretty much told me they would love to have me up there and ever since then we’ve communicated,” Thomas said. “He’ll DM me on Twitter and I’ll call him for a little bit. We talk at least twice a week.”

Thomas, 6-2, 245 pounds, 4.7 seconds on the 40-yard dash, has 11 other scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Alabama, West Virginia, Oregon State and Louisville. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He has also talked to Coach Bret Bielema after calling Hargreaves.

“If I call him at a good time, he’ll let me speak to the head coach sometimes,” Thomas said.

He and Thompson will be accompanied by several others when they make their way to Arkansas.

“Either my mom or my dad and one of my coaches and a couple of players they’re recruiting too,” Thomas said.

Thomas, who has a 320 pound bench press and 405 squat, revealed how a school might be able to get him away from the Seminoles.

“Keeping in contact with me and show me they really want me,” Thomas said.
