— Arkansas right-hander Keaton McKinney was named SEC freshman of the week on Sunday after throwing a four-hitter over seven shutout innings at Georgia in the Razorbacks’ 9-0 victory on Friday.

McKinney leads the Razorbacks with a 6-1 record and 2,83 earned run average. The 6-5, 220-pounder from Ankeny, Iowa, is 5-0 over his last six starts with a 1.56 ERA.

McKinney is the only freshman in the SEC to throw a complete game this season. He’s thrown a pair of complete games in his last six starts, including a 4-0 shutout of Alabama at the Hoover Met, site of this week’s SEC Tournament, on May 2. He was named SEC pitcher of the week after that performance.

The No. 5 seed Razorbacks take on No. 12 seed Tennessee in the single-elimination opening round of the SEC Tournament on Tuesday at approximately 8 p.m. in the final game of the day. The winner will advance to the double-elimination round against No. 4 seed Florida in Wednesday’s late game.
