LSU steals school-record 8 bases, tops Lehigh

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU set a school record with eight stolen bases, and Kade Scivicque and Chris Sciambra each drove in two runs to defeat Lehigh 10-3 in the first round of the Baton Rouge Regional on Friday night.

Alex Bregman, Jared Foster and Andrew Stevenson each had two stolen bases for LSU (49-10). Hunter Newman (3-0) pitched one inning of relief for the win.

LSU, the No. 2 overall national seed in the NCAA Tournament, tied it at 2 in the fourth inning on an RBI groundout by Danny Zardon, and a wild pitch that scored Chris Chinea. LSU took the lead for good in the fifth on an RBI single by Scivicque.

Reliever Kevin Boswick (3-4) allowed four runs in 1 1/3 innings in the loss for Lehigh (49-10), the Patriot League champion.

The game was delayed in the middle of the first for 2 hours, 17 minutes because of rain.
