Hogs win season opener

Dusty Hannahs Arkansas guard defends Christopher Hyder Southern University guard Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

— It didn't take long for Dusty Hannahs to reintroduce himself to his home state.

Playing in his first official game at Arkansas, the Texas Tech transfer and Little Rock native scored 21 points and made 5 of 7 three-point shots, leading the Razorbacks to an 86-68 win over Southern.

It was the Razorbacks' 21st consecutive win on opening night and 42nd straight win in their home opener.

Southern hung tough with Arkansas most of the game and pulled within six just after the under-8 media timeout in the second half.

However, six straight points by Moses Kingsley and a 3-pointer by Hannahs helped the Razorbacks put the Jaguars away.

Despite being in foul trouble the entire game, Kingsley had his best statistical performance at Arkansas.

In only 24 minutes, he posted his second career double-double, with 22 points and 12 rebounds. He made all eight of his shots from the field and also had five blocked shots and three steals.

The Jaguars were led by Christopher Hyder, who had 22 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Anthlon Bell (14 points) and Jimmy Whitt (12) were the only other Razorbacks in double figures, while Jabril Durham had a career-high 10 assists.

Arkansas returns to action Wednesday against Akron. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
