VIDEO: Agim SI's High School Athlete of the Month

The Sentinel-Record/Mara Kuhn Hope’s McTelvin Agim returns the opening kickoff for a touchdown against Lakeside Friday night at Austin Field. Regarded as the state’s top high-school football prospect by talent evaluators, Agim has committed verbally to the University of Arkansas. Hope and Lakeside played Friday night for the 5A-South lead with three games left. Lakeside goes to De Queen next week before an Oct. 30 home game against Watson Chapel.

Arkansas defensive end commitment McTelvin Agim has been selected Sports Illustrated's High School Athlete of the Month for November.

Agim, 6-3, 268, 4.62 seconds in the 40 yard dash, picked the Hogs over Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Baylor during a press conference at a family reunion in Texarkana, Texas in September. Prior to last week's playoff game against Pulaski Academy, he had 69 tackles, 33.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, 5 quarterback hurries, an interception and 6 pass breakups.

Offensively, he had 19 rushes for 181 yards, 8 touchdowns along with 8 receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown. He also had 8 kickoffs for 406 yards and a touchdown.

ESPN rates him a five-star recruit, the nation's No. 9 overall prospect and the No. 2 defensive end. He recorded 72 tackles, 22 sacks, 13 pass knockdowns, 6 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries as a junior.
