Offensive lineman Walker Reed and his family sat down with Arkansas offensive line Coach Sam Pittman prior to the Mississippi State game and received good news.
Reed, 6-7, 315 pounds of Norman North in Norman, Okla., was told the Hogs were offering him a chance to be a preferred walk-on.
“I was ecstatic, I was very excited because Arkansas is a place I could see myself playing in the future,” Reed said. “It’s a great program and I really like Coach Pittman.”
He impressed Pittman during an Arkansas summer camp.
“I enjoyed working with him and he enjoyed me,” Reed said. ““He’s got a good personality and I can see myself working well with him.”
Reed has a couple of DII scholarship offers and a preferred walk-on invite from LSU. He’s very fond of Oklahoma State, but the Cowboys have yet to offer a walk-on spot.
“Right now, if it was signing day, I would probably go with Arkansas,” Reed said.
