Cornelius may play this weekend

Arkansas receiver Jared Cornelius is tackled by Texas Tech defender Tevin Madison during a game Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas receiver Jared Cornelius will practice this week and will play in Saturday's game against Tennessee-Martin barring any setbacks.

Cornelius, who broke his arm in multiple places during a game against Texas Tech on Sept. 19, has been cleared to play, Razorbacks Coach Bret Bielema said Monday. The sophomore is listed as a starter on Arkansas' latest depth chart.

"He's a little bit ahead of schedule," Bielema said. "Our medical people feel great about him. He's healed up very fast and very efficient.

"He's actually kind of been out there a little bit the last two weeks, but not involved in practice situations. That should be a huge benefit to give us back an experienced wide receiver."

Cornelius had a plate inserted in his arm during surgery to repair the injury. He has seven receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown this season.

As a freshman, Cornelius caught 18 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns.

Bielema said he met with Cornelius' mother Sunday because "she had to be convinced her baby could play."

Arkansas has been down three receivers since Cornelius' injury last month. Keon Hatcher and Cody Hollister have each missed five games after suffering a broken foot.
