Georgia receiver commits to Razorbacks

Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County wide receiver Kiel Pollard committed to Arkansas on Friday, Sept. 26, 2015.

Arkansas received the commitment of Georgia receiver Kiel Pollard on Friday afternoon.

Pollard, 6-2, 225, 4.68 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County picked Arkansas over approximately 17 other scholarship offers from schools like California, Iowa, Central Florida, Purdue, Wake Forest, Boston College and Cincinnati.

He made an official visit to Fayetteville last weekend for the Texas Tech game. He and Razorbacks freshman defensive lineman T.J. Smith were teammates last year.

“I loved the campus and fell in love with the fans, the game atmosphere and just being around T.J. and some of the football players made me feel so comfortable,” Pollard said. “I felt like I was at home. I think it’s a great decision and I’m looking forward to playing the next four years at Arkansas.”

He said the chance to play early and Smith’s guidance also helped his decision.

“T.J. really sold it,” Pollard said. “I knew it was a great spot when he picked Arkansas.”

Pollard, who’s being recruited as an athlete, recorded 66 catches for 830 yards and 7 touchdowns as a junior. He has 18 receptions for 301 yards and 7 touchdowns along with 6 rushes for 20 yards and 4 touchdowns in 5 games this season.

He bragged on the recruiting job of defensive line coach Rory Segrest.

“He did a great job,” Pollard said. “I talked to him almost everyday when he would get out of practice. He would tell me about Arkansas. He was like a father figure.”

Pollard is Arkansas’ 15th commitment for the 2016 class. Oral commitments are nonbinding.
