Mizzou routs Arkansas to win series

— Missouri beat Arkansas 10-1 at Baum Stadium on Sunday to hand the No. 15 Razorbacks their second series loss in three weeks.

The Tigers (17-13, 2-7 SEC) won their first conference series after being swept by No. 3 Florida and No. 4 Vanderbilt the two weeks prior to playing Arkansas.

Turning Point: After going 0-for-9 its first time through the batting order, Missouri put six of its first seven batters on base in the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead.

Notable: The series was loss was Arkansas' first at home since losing two of three to LSU in March 2015.

Missouri scored four runs off Arkansas starter Barrett Loseke in the fourth inning and never trailed. The Tigers added four more runs in the eighth and two in the ninth to pull away.

The Razorbacks (19-9, 4-5) scored their only run on pinch-hitter Darien Simms' fielder's choice RBI with the bases loaded in the seventh. Arkansas nearly added two more runs in the inning, but Missouri center fielder Jake Ring robbed Carson Shaddy of an extra-base hit with a diving catch in center field.

Loseke was perfect through three innings, but ran into trouble in the fourth. The freshman right-hander walked a batter and gave up two hits in the inning, and was pulled for reliever Zach Jackson with one out.

Ryan Howard, Zach Lavy, Trey Harris and Shane Benes all had RBI hits in the fourth to give Missouri a 4-0 lead.

Loseke's 3 1/3-inning start was Arkansas' third straight short outing by a starting pitcher. The Razorbacks' three starters pitched a combined eight innings during the series against the Tigers.

After Arkansas pulled within 4-1 in the seventh, Missouri loaded the bases with one out in the eighth. The Tigers scored a run on a sacrifice bunt before Kirby McGuire hit a three-run home run off Razorbacks reliever Josh Alberius to make it 8-1.

Missouri scored twice off reliever Kacey Murphy in the ninth. Making his first career appearance on the mound, Arkansas freshman infielder Cody Scroggins worked out of a bases-loaded, no outs jam to end the inning.

Tigers starter Michael Plassmeyer allowed four hits in 3 2/3 innings to earn the win and Brian Sharp pitched 2 2/3 innings to record his fourth save. Missouri pitchers allowed six hits and struck out 10.

Arkansas is scheduled to play again Wednesday at Memphis.
