UA coach broke nose at Kentucky

Arkansas assistant coach Tony Vitello speaks to an umpire against Mississippi Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas baseball assistant Tony Vitello suffered a broken nose prior to the Razorbacks' first game against Kentucky last Friday.

Vitello was struck by a line drive during batting practice. He was checked for an orbital fracture, but those results were negative, Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said.

"(The screen used for batting practice) wasn't tied good enough, but it looked like it," Van Horn said. "It went right through there and it broke his nose.

"He took a shot. I didn't think he was going to be able to coach and hang out, but he stuck with it the whole time."

Vitello didn't miss any of the Razorbacks' series win at Kentucky. He was back on the recruiting trail Monday in Illinois.
