Nation's second-best recruit has Arkansas in her top 8

Central Arkansas Christian's Christyn Williams is considered the top girls basketball recruit in the state.

— The state’s best girls basketball prospect - and one of the nation’s best regardless of class - has narrowed her lengthy list of scholarship offers down to eight schools, and Arkansas is on the list.

Central Arkansas Christian junior Christyn Williams (5-foot-11), ranked as the second-best prospect nationally by ESPN, has Arkansas, Baylor, Connecticut, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and UCLA as her top eight.

Williams was last season’s Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year while averaging 29 points, 11 rebounds and 7 steals. She is a lefty combo guard that is ranked as the top guard in the class of 2018 by ESPN.

“First off I want to thank the man above for even giving me the ability to play basketball,” Williams tweeted. “I also want to thank all of the schools for recruiting me but as of right now I have cut my list down to my top 8."

Arkansas was her first of what is now more than 20 scholarship offers. Razorbacks coach Jimmy Dykes offered Williams three months before she started ninth grade.
