Basketball Razorbacks touring Spain before getting down to business

Real Madrid Stadium

MADRID, Spain - The Arkansas’ basketball team’s first day in Spain on a 10-day tour of the country consisted of going by a bullfighting ring, a little rest and dinner at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Dressing for the part at dinner, Razorback senior guards Dusty Hannahs and Manuel Watkins sported their brand new Cristiano Ronaldo soccer jerseys honoring the soccer club's star player.

“The kids really seemed to enjoy that,” Arkansas director of basketball operations Matt Zimmerman said. “Of course, (senior center) Moses (Kingsley) is the real soccer fan on this team and was the most excited to get his picture taken outside the stadium.”

The Razorbacks will be followed about two days later by Purdue, who is playing the same four teams.

Arkansas will get up Monday and tour the famed city to Toledo, which has some of the best and oldest art and structures in the country, including the Cathedral of St. Mary, Church of Santo Tome and the Jewish Quarter.

The Razorbacks will practice Monday night in advance of the first of four games scheduled on the tour.

Arkansas will face Eurocolegio Casvi on Tuesday at 1 p.m. CST in Madrid to begin a four-game, three-city exhibition tour.

The Razorbacks will then travel to Valencia and play Albacete Basket at 10:30 a.m. CST.

The final two games of the trip will be in Barcelona against the Barcelona Region All-Stars on August 13 at 2:30 p.m. CST with the finale set against the European Basketball Academy August 14 at 1 p.m. CST .

BYU took this same tour in 2015 and played three of the same teams while going 4-0.
