Hogs offer Texas forward, he plans visit

2017 forward Fabian White.

Arkansas looks to be in good shape to receive an official visit from a Texas forward after recently extending a scholarship offer to the highly regarded prospect.

Coach Mike Anderson and associate head coach Melvin Watkins talked to Fabian White couple weeks ago and informed him of the offer.

“Coach Anderson and coach Watkins called me and said they liked how I played,” White said.

White, 6-7, 212 pounds of Kingwood, (Texas) Atascocita High School reports about 30 other scholarship offers from schools like TCU, SMU, Houston, Memphis and numerous others.

“I was excited they moved up on my list,” said White of the Hogs’ offer. “So I’ll try and set up an official.”

Arkansas’ style of play is a big draw for White.

“They play like my high school team, they pressure the ball 94 feet and play fast,” White said.

White, who played for Houston Hoopstars during spring and summer, said TCU, Iowa State, Houston and SMU are others he’s looking to officially visit. He plans to sign during the arly signing period in November.

The Hogs watched him play in the FAB 48 in Las Vegas during the July live period.

“They said they’re recruiting me to put the ball in the hole and play defense,” he said.

He played his sophomore season at Kingwood and was the District 16-6A Newcomer of the Year and defensive MVP. He and Atascocita lost to DeSoto 73-54 in the Class 6A state championship game and finished 38-1.

White gave a rundown on his wish list for his future school.

“A good business school, the coaching staff, style of play and early playing time as a freshman,” White said.
