Kingsley comes through as Hogs win again in Spain

Arkansas center Moses Kingsley speaks to reporters on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at the Razorbacks' basketball practice facility in Fayetteville.

— After struggling to establish himself in Arkansas' first two exhibition games earlier this week, the Razorbacks' senior leader came through in a big way Saturday.

Moses Kingsley scored 11 points and had 16 rebounds in Arkansas' 99-77 win over Barcelona All-Stars at Tiana Arena. The Razorbacks improved to 2-1 in their exhibition tour, which concludes Sunday with a 1 p.m. Central game against European Academy in Barcelona.

Kingsley made 5 of 9 field goal attempts and added two blocked shots to his stat line in 22 minutes. After struggling with foul trouble in the first two exhibition games, he committed only one personal foul Saturday.

"Before the game, I told Moses, 'I need 16 rebounds,'" Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said. "I guess he got 16. It's a matter of us taking that mindset in every game. If you have that mindset, that gives us some potent weapons scoring and defending the basket."

Dusty Hannahs scored 15 points to lead the Razorbacks, while Jaylen Barford added 11 points and C.J. Jones had 10.

"I'm just trying to get better, just trying to learn my teammates before the season starts," said Barford, who tied for a team-high with five assists and also had five rebounds. "Just compete and try to win."

Dustin Thomas scored 8 points and recorded 12 rebounds.

The Razorbacks outrebounded Barcelona 65-31. Arkansas had 18 offensive rebounds that led 22 second-chance points.

"We're the big bodies on the team, so we've got to be physical," Thomas said.

Arkansas shot the ball well for the second consecutive game by converting several good looks around the basket. The Razorbacks shot 52 percent despite making only 5 of 19 3-point attempts.

Barcelona led briefly in the first quarter, but Arkansas used a 10-3 run late in the quarter to take the lead for good.

The Razorbacks used an 11-1 run to build a sizable cushion late in the first half. Arkansas led 59-36 at halftime after an Adrio Bailey dunk with 13 seconds remaining.

"I think we're getting a little continuity," Anderson said. "We're getting some confidence playing with each other offensively, and especially defensively.

"In the second half I thought the rhythm of the game kind of changed, but for the most part those guys the past couple of games have had good energy and are sharing the basketball. I thought we have done a good job of establishing inside presence tonight."

Barcelona finished the game 21 of 66 from the field, but took advantage of 29 Arkansas fouls and went 26 of 37 from the free throw line.

The Razorbacks lost the turnover battle 24-15 and Barcelona led 24-17 in points off turnovers.

"There was some adversity and I told them they can't play that bad on the road in the States," Anderson said.

"At the end of the day, hopefully we can get through the next game and not have as many turnovers."
