VIDEO: Warren's Treylon Burks continues to shine

Warren receiver Treylon Burks is one of the top prospects in the state as a sophomore.

Warren receiver Treylon Burks was one of the best prospects in the state last year even as a freshman after recording 41 receptions for 815 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He did nothing to hurt his stock in the Lumberjacks' 55-48 victory over Little Rock Christian on Tuesday night at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock with 5 receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown.

“He’s going to be special,” Warren Coach Bo Hembree said. “He got a little tired tonight. We have to get him in a little better shape. That was pretty much a basketball game on grass right there for a long time ... for three quarters it was. He’s only a sophomore, but he made some big plays tonight.”

He's the first freshman to receive a scholarship offer from Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema. Burks also has offers from South Florida and Memphis.

Burks, 6-3, 205 pounds, was timed at 4.66 seconds in the 40-yard dash as a freshman and has added to his burst of speed for this season.

“He’s going to grow a lot more,” Hembree said. “He gets better with each day. He has some stuff he needs to work on, and he’ll keep improving.”

Hembree praised Burks' attitude and willingness to work.

“He’s a great character guy, and he works extremely hard, and he’ll keep getting better and better, and the sky is the limit for him,” Hembree said.
