FAYETTEVILLE - Some season ticket prices will increase for Arkansas home football games in the 2016 season.

The UA announced the price change Tuesday. The announcement comes less than a week after the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees voted to allow the Razorbacks to begin preliminary work to fund a $160 million expansion to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

That expansion would be paid for through donations and bonds. Razorbacks officials stated in a proposal to the board that football ticket prices would be used to help fund the repayment for the bonds.

Most lower-deck tickets for games at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium will increase by $60 per seat to $360 next season. Most upper-deck tickets at the stadium, meanwhile, will decrease by $50 per seat to $250.

Prices reflect only ticket costs and not additional costs such as donations to the Razorback Foundation.

There are also increases for seats in most club and suite levels. The price hikes are the first for the Razorbacks since the 2010 season.

“It is imperative we continue to enhance our facilities and address the increasing expenses related to the maintenance and upkeep of facilities, rising scholarship costs in conjunction with providing cost of attendance and escalating expenses of feeding and fueling our student-athletes," UA athletics director Jeff Long said in a statement. "The price increases are primarily in the lower levels, clubs and suites, while, for the first time in decades, prices for some seating in the upper deck and at War Memorial Stadium will be reduced."

Seats in the south end zone area known as the Red Zone were increased by $60 to $420. Upper-level seats in the Pig Heaven section will see no cost increase or decrease.

Student ticket prices will not increase.

Arkansas has lowered ticket prices for its annual football game at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock to $35-$45. Tickets for the game against Toledo there cost $55 last season. The Razorbacks are scheduled to play Alcorn State, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision, on Oct. 1 in Little Rock.

It's unclear how prices will change for single-game tickets during the 2016 season. Single-game tickets ranged from $45-$65 last year in Fayetteville.
