Mighty Vikings to reunite as Razorbacks?

Long before earning a scholarship offer from Arkansas last Thursday, Cabot athlete Jarrod Barnes played Pee Wee football for the Jacksonville-based Mighty Vikings.

North Little Rock receiver Tobias Enlow, who plans to be a preferred walk-on at Arkansas, also played for the Mighty Vikings.

Barnes, 5-11, 173, 4.52 seconds in the 40-yard dash, played quarterback and rushed 111 times for 1,090 yards and 17 touchdowns this past season. He would likely play cornerback or slot receiver in Fayetteville should he become a Hog.

“Tobias is going there so that would be nice,” Barnes said. “We could play together again.”

Arkansas sophomore cornerback Kevin Richardson II is also a former Viking.

“We can all play together again,” Barnes said.

Another Mighty Viking product is Kansas City Chiefs tight end Demetrius Harris, who played basketball for Wisconsin-Milwaukee before signing with the Chiefs in 2013.

Barnes and his family are big Razorback fans. His mother, Gretchen was in disbelief when he told her of the Hogs' offer.

“I was like ‘No, I’m being serious’ and she was like ‘No way’ and then she started freaking out,” Barnes said.
