UA (4-2 in SEC), outscrambles LSU

Jessica Jackson finished with 15 points and six rebounds to lead the Arkansas women's basketball team to their third consecutive victory, defeating LSU 48-44 in front of an announced crowd of 2,084 on Thursday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge.

The Razorbacks (9-10, 4-2 SEC) have started SEC play with four victories in their first six games for the second time in 10 seasons. Arkansas started 5-1 in the SEC in 2005-2006, but lost its final nine conference games.

Devin Cosper had 12 points for the Razorbacks. Alecia Cooley added eight points.

Arkansas shot 35.2 percent (19 of 54) while LSU shot 34 percent (17 of 50).

Arkansas trailed 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. Cosper's layup gave the Razorbacks their first lead, 22-20, as they outscored the Tigers 17-10 in the second quarter to go into halftime tied at 24-24.

The Razorbacks outscored the Tigers 7-0 in the third quarter to take a 31-24 lead and held the Tigers to four points in the quarter to lead 37-28 going into the fourth quarter. LSU's four points in the third quarter was the lowest point total allowed by Arkansas in a quarter this season.

LSU cut the lead to 43-42 in the fourth quarter. Cosper hit a three-pointer to make it 46-42 with 1:30 to play. The Tigers pulled within 46-44, but Cosper made 1 of 2 at the free-throw line with 38 seconds left to give Arkansas a 47-44 lead.

Cosper sealed the victory with 1 of 2 free throws with 12 seconds to play.

Alexis Hyder led LSU (7-12, 1-5) with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Akilah Bethel finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Arkansas travels to Auburn on Sunday.
