Thursday recruiting tidbits

CB Joseph Putu plans to visit the Hogs Jan. 29.

Arkansas will visit a recently offered defensive prospect this morning.

Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema and defensive coordinator Robb Smith are expected to visit cornerback Joesph Putu around 10 am today.

Putu, 6-2, 195, 4.37 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of North Dakota State College of Science has seen his stock raise after a well connected individual started sending out his video to schools. He'll make an official visit to Fayetteville this weekend.

Linebacker commitment Giovanni LaFrance, 6-1, 239, 4.8 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of New Orleans St. Augustine High School hosted defensive coordinator Robb Smith and receivers coach Michael Smith for an in-home visit on Wednesday.

Linebacker commitment De'jon Harris, 6-1, 230 4.7 of Marrero, (La.) John Ehret said receivers coach Michael Smith and linebackers coach Vernon Hargreaves visited him at school on Wednesday.

Houston is expected to make an in-home visit with receiver Tyrie Cleveland, 6-3, 190, 4.32 of Houston Westfield today. He hosted Arkansas for an in-home on Wednesday.

As reported earlier in the week, junior college offensive lineman Paul Ramirez, 6-7, 295 of San Bernardino Valley hosted Arkansas offensive line coach Kurt Anderson for an in-home visit Wednesday night.

2:00 update

Junior college All American cornerback Joesph Putu of North Dakota State College of Science is heard to the Fargo airport for his flight to Fayetteville. He's expected to arrive tonight and will start his official visit on Friday.

Florida and Texas A&M were hoping to bump Arkansas for this weekend's visit.
