Wagner Set To Check Out Arkansas Again As Decision Nears

Dalton Wagner

— Arkansas could be in a position to land a big offensive lineman in the near future and keep its title of having the tallest lineman in college football.

Richmond, Ill., Richard-Burton Community High School standout Dalton Wagner (6-9, 305) is planning to visit the Razorbacks next week and says he is getting close to making a decision.

“I intend to get down to Arkansas next week and get another look at things as I wind this thing down,” Wagner said. “I am in a good place now with Arkansas, Oklahoma and Indiana being the final three schools I am really considering.

“I would like to visit each place again and have my decision made before I start my senior year. That way I will be able to have it all out of the way and just concentrate on football.”

Wagner visited Arkansas – who currently has 6-10 All-American candidate Dan Skipper in its program - back in April.

“It was a great visit,” Wagner said. “Every aspect of the program is top-notch. It is a great place with great coaches that you can tell really care about you and your education as well as what you can do on a football field.”

Wagner is a big fan of Arkansas offensive line coach Kurt Anderson, who Razorback head coach Bret Bielema came on board in January after being with the Buffalo Bills.

“I love the guy,” Wagner said. “I mean we sit down and talked almost that entire Friday night. He is a great tactician and really knows what he is doing as far as helping develop players and what it takes to get to the league.

“Coach Bielema is a great guy and a great coach also. In fact, all of the coaches there are Arkansas are just great people and are great coaches.”

Wagner is also a big fan of intense Arkansas strength and conditioning coach Ben Herbert.

“He is so, so intense,” Wagner said. “When he was talking with us he was just dripping with sweat because he is so into what he is doing. He was very clear about the fact if you don’t come into the weight room with motivation, he will find that motivation for you and will get you going and get the best of you.”
