Arkansas' in-state grid pledges get practice underway Monday

Arkansas continues to recruit Pulaski Robinson athlete Koilan Jackson hard.

— The four in-state pledges in Arkansas' 2017 recruiting class will all get practice for their senior season underway on Monday with three of them playing in the same conference.

Ashdown safety Montaric Brown (6-1, 180, 4.5, Nashville offensive lineman Kirby Adcock (6-5, 280), Joe T. Robinson wide receiver Koilan Jackson (6-3, 207, 4.6) and Cabot athlete Jarrod Barnes (5-11, 175, 4.37) - the only four 2017 players the Razorbacks offered - are all anxious to get started.

Jackson, whose team opens its season on Monday, Aug. 29th against Hot Springs Lakeside transferred from Little Rock Parkview to Robinson after a junior season in which he over 3,000 yards of total offense and 38 touchdowns while playing quarterback.

“I am really looking forward to it,” Jackson said. “It should be a fun season.”

Brown – who committed to the Razorbacks on Thursday - and Ashdown will open their season Sept. 2 at Monticello.

He had 122 tackles and five interceptions last season and took the first three picks back for touchdowns.

“I’m looking to focus on my academics and just enjoy my last year of football with my teammates and coaches,” Brown said.

Adcock and Nashville – who won the Class 4A state title last season while going 15-0 - open their season at Hope on Sept. 2 while Brown and Adcock will be on the same field on Oct. 14th at Ashdown.

“I’m very excited for my senior season,” Adcock said. “It’s my last time to get to go and play with some of my high school best friends and to try and my best to help lead Nashville to another state title.”

Pulaski Robinson rejoins the 7-4A this season with Nashville and Ashdown also in the same conference.

Barnes, Cabot’s first Division I player in 27 years, and the Panthers host Pine Bluff on Sept. 2 to open their campaign.

He rushed for 1,090 yards and 17 touchdowns and passed for 223 yards while playing quarterback.

Barnes is viewed as a wide receiver prospect by the Razorback coaching staff.

Arkansas now has 19 commitments in its 2017 recruiting class.
