Arkansas hoops near top in attendance

Despite having a down year, Arkansas ranked near the top of college basketball in attendance again during the 2015-16 season.

The Razorbacks had an average paid attendance of 14,879, which ranked 12th nationally and second in the Southeastern Conference, according to figures released by the NCAA on Wednesday.

It is the 18th time in 23 years and second consecutive season Arkansas finished in the top 15 in attendance. The Razorbacks have been in the top 30 nationally every year since Bud Walton Arena opened in 1993.

While attendance across the country fell by less than 1 percent, Arkansas' dropped 5.5 percent this season. Still, its national ranking fell just one spot, from 11th to 12th.

Kentucky, which led the country with an average attendance of 23,361, was the lone SEC team ranked higher than Arkansas.

Tennessee (17th; 14,232) and Alabama (22nd; 13,110) were the only other conference members in the top 25.

The average home attendance across all 346 Division I teams was 4,744.
