Taccolini returning for senior season

Arkansas' Dominic Taccolini throws a pitch during a game against Rice on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

— Arkansas pitcher Dominic Taccolini will return to the Razorbacks for his senior season, he announced Friday on Twitter.

Taccolini was drafted in the 16th round by the Toronto Blue Jays last week in the major league first-year players draft. Of Arkansas’ four underclassmen who were drafted, Taccolini is the only one who will return.

“From day one it has always been our goal to reach Omaha and to win a National Championship, and I want another opportunity to try to accomplish this goal with Arkansas across my chest,” Taccolini wrote on Twitter.

As a junior, Taccolini struggled as the Razorbacks’ Friday starter. In SEC games, he had a 7.49 ERA in 9 starts and 1 relief appearance.
