Bald Knob athlete DeShawn Gulledge’s performances at the All Arkansas camp in Little Rock on June 5 and at Arkansas’ three-day camp on Sunday earned him a preferred walk-on offer from the Hogs.
"It has been a dream," Gulledge said. "It gives me chills every time I think about it. It's the home state and a bigger university. The facilities are outstanding and I would love to play here. “
Gullege, 5-10, 175 pounds recorded 4.65 seconds in the 40 yard dash and had a broad jump of 10 feet on Sunday. He had a time of 4.42 seconds in the 40 at the All Arkansas camp.
He had a vertical leap of 44.6 inches at the Nike The Opening Ratings Day in Dallas in March. Gulledge had over 2,100 rushing and receiving yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior.
Coach Bret Bielema told him of the chance to be a preferred walk-on.
“I’m always working hard and showing up to the campus,” Gullege said. “They just called me in and told me they would love to have me."
He has scholarship offers from Arkansas-Monticello, Ouachita Baptist, Arkansas Tech and Kentucky Christian.
