The Recruiting Guy

Bohanon shows versatility at Arkansas camp

Gerry Bohanon of Earle.

— The Arkansas coaches kept Earle junior Gerry Bohanon busy during the Hogs’ three-day camp that ended today.

He worked out at quarterback, safety, wide receiver and outside linebacker.

“I feel that it went pretty good,” Bohanon said. “I played a few positions.”

Bohanon, 6-4, 215 pounds threw for 1,763 yards and rushed for 964 yards in eight games this past season while also recording 46 tackles and 9 sacks in five games at defensive end.

He prefers playing quarterback.

“That’s my position,” said Bohanon, who threw for over 1,800 yards and rushed for over 1,500 as a freshman. “I feel that I can sit in the pocket. I can do that good, but I also feel like I am a dual threat guy that can throw on the run, get out of the pocket if you need me to. I can stay in it, I am accurate, I can throw the deep ball.”

Bohanon has an offer from Arkansas State and is drawing interest from Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama and Memphis. An offer from the Hogs would be welcomed.

“I love Arkansas and would love to represent my home state,” Bohanon said. “I hope I get the chance.”

He enjoyed getting to know the Arkansas coaches.

“I like the way they treat the players and how they interact with us,” Bohanon said. “I love Coach B (Bret Bielema) and I feel I have a good vibe with Coach (Vernon) Hargreaves and Barry Lunney.”

Bohanon isn’t done with summer camps.

“I have several more camps,” Bohanon said. “I have got to go to Mississippi State, most likely I will go to Tennessee, I go to Alabama and Memphis and might go to Oklahoma State, too.”
