— Guard Jimmy Whitt will transfer from Arkansas' basketball team.

Whitt played in all 32 games as a freshman and averaged 6.1 points per game. He signed with the Razorbacks in 2014 as a four-star recruit, according to ESPN.

Whitt is from Columbia, Missouri, and has had a relationship with coaches on the Arkansas staff from their time coaching Missouri.

“After meeting with Jimmy, although I don’t agree with his decision, I respect it,” Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said in a statement. “I had the privilege of watching Jimmy grow up over the years and it was a pleasure coaching him during his freshman season. We wish him and his family the best as he pursues another institution to continue his collegiate career.”

Anderson previously said he did not expect any players to transfer this off-season. He is scheduled to meet with all of his players assistant coaches this week.

The Razorbacks finished the 2015-16 season with a 16-16 record, including a 9-9 record in SEC games.

Whitt has not announced to where he will transfer. It's unknown whether any restrictions were put on his release from the Razorbacks.

“I have enjoyed my experience at the University of Arkansas, but I feel like it’s time for me to make a change,” Whitt said in a statement. “This was a very difficult decision for me and my family. I wish the Razorbacks and my teammates nothing but success in the future.”
