Arkansas visit a hit with Greenwood QB

Greenwood quarterback Connor Noland (13) runs for a first down during a game againt Springdale last month. Noland, a sophomore, and fellow quarterback Luke Hakes have led Greenwood to a 5-0 record, 2-0 in the 7A/6A-Central.

Sophomore Greenwood quarterback Connor Noland, who received an offer from Arkansas on Thursday, attended the Hogs’ April 16 scrimmage.

He split time with starter Luke Hales this past season and completed 72 of 106 passes for 844 yards and 8 touchdowns while operating out of the Spread offense.

Noland was able to sit in a meeting with the quarterbacks and offensive coordinator Dan Enos before practice.

“I think the pro-style offense they run is something that definitely helps guys get to the NFL,” Noland said. “It’s SEC power football. You’re going to run the ball a lot, but the play action I definitely like it. I’m not opposed to going under center and doing any of that stuff, so it’s definitely appealing.”

He has a busy summer schedule with plans to visit Vanderbilt, Michigan State, Northwestern, Notre Dame Duke and possibly others.

He enjoyed spending time with Coach Bret Bielema and Enos.

“It was good talking to all of the coaches in person,” Noland said. “That was the first time I got to talk to Enos and Bielema so it was good to talk to those guys. It’s always good to see the facilities again and kind of get a feel for the practice and how everything is going to go on a normal day.”

Noland, 6-2, 185 pounds, also has offers from UCLA, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Kentucky and Arkansas State. He’s an outstanding pitcher and has baseball offers from Arkansas and Northwestern.

He hasn’t decided if he’ll be a one-sport or two-sport athlete in college.

“I really haven’t made a decision yet,” Noland said. “There’s the possibility I could play both. It just depends on what my heart tells me. Hopefully the next couple of seasons I’ll figure it out or maybe a season. I really don’t know the time table it will take.”
