Bielema's footwear, tunes grab prospect's attention

Trey Coleman

Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema is known for his love of music and it’s not unusual for a visiting prospect to hear a variety of tunes while having a one-on-one meeting in Bielema’s office.

Running back Trey Coleman visited the Hogs during the Red-White spring game and had a talk with Bielema.

“We get to his office and he has his slippers on,” Coleman said. “We were listening to that Cajun music.”

Coleman, 6-0, 213, 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of West Monroe High School, has 11 scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Iowa State, Tulane and Louisiana Tech.

While in Bielema’s office, he noticed Arkansas’ upcoming schedule that includes a road game at TCU and the addition of Florida to the SEC rotation.

“I saw that schedule and I was like you guys have a tough schedule,” Coleman said.

Coleman, who rushed for 1,500 yards as a junior, had high praise for the Razorback coaching staff.

“They were real cool and really genuine,” Coleman said.

He also spoke well of receivers coach Michael Smith.

“I love coach Smith,” Coleman said. “I saw his car. Oh my God, he has a BMW. It was nice. I wanted to ride in it.”

Coleman is looking to major in Criminal Justice.

“I probably want to be a policeman,” he said. “I just know I want to be in law enforcement.”

The trip made the Hogs more appealing to Coleman.

“It raised their chances up a lot,” Coleman said.
