In a tweet posted at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Kurt Anderson said he and an off-duty paramedic provided aid to a man who sustained a head injury in the accident.

"I pray the man that myself and an off-duty paramedic helped on the side of the road makes it," Anderson wrote.

Anderson praised the paramedic's quick response but described the injury as "awfully gnarly."

He said the paramedic "came from the other side of the highway to stabilize his neck."

In other messages on Twitter, Anderson warned people about weaving in and out of traffic and onto the shoulder of the highway.

"It can only end bad for you," he wrote. "Be safe."

A geostamp on Anderson's final tweet indicated he was in Homewood, which is a suburb of Birmingham.
