Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn delivers a commencement address Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the graduation for Shiloh Christian High School in Springdale. Van Horn's daughter was one of 90 who graduated while his team played a game at No. 4 Mississippi State.

Arkansas last was shut out in a 10-0 loss to Florida last season in the SEC Tournament.

It was the Bulldogs' first shutout victory over Arkansas since they beat the Razorbacks 2-0 in 1992 at Starkville in the teams' first SEC game.

While the Razorbacks couldn't help themselves Thursday night in their attempt to be among the 12 teams to make this year's SEC Tournament, they got some help from Georgia and Vanderbilt.

Georgia beat Tennessee 10-8 to drop the Volunteers to 7-21 in conference play and keep them tied for last with the Razorbacks. Vanderbilt swept a doubleheader Auburn, winning 9-3 and 5-2, to drop the Tigers to 8-21.

Arkansas holds a tiebreaker advantage over Auburn by virtue of sweeping three games from the Tigers.

Missouri, which holds a tiebreaker advantage over Arkansas after winning two of three from the Razorbacks, beat Kentucky 9-3 Thursday night to improve to 9-19.

The Razorbacks have to win at least one of their last two games at Mississippi State to have any hopes of qualifying for the SEC Tournament.

Hudson threw his second consecutive shutout along with a 4-0 victory at Auburn last weekend. He held the Razorbacks to 5 hits -- all singles -- and 2 walks with 10 strikeouts while lowering his earned run average to 2.29. He threw 120 pitches, including 81 strikes.

Hudson has not allowed an earned run in his his last 25 1/3 innings.

Arkansas committed five errors, which helped Mississippi State (38-14-1, 19-9) score four unearned runs.

Mississippi State freshman right fielder and leadoff hitter Jake Mangum went 5 for 5 to raise his batting average to .423. He scored three runs.

The Bulldogs took a 4-0 lead in the third inning when they scored three unearned runs against Arkansas starter Dominic Taccolini as third baseman Clark Eagan and catcher Tucker Pennell had throwing errors along with a Mangum single and a Nathaniel Lowe double.

Mississippi State made it 5-0 in the fifth inning when Gavin Collins tripled and scored on Taccolini's wild pitch.

The Bulldogs added two runs in the seventh, including Lowe's RBI double, to extend their lead to 7-0.

Taccolini (5-5) went 5 1/3 innings and allowed 11 hits, 3 earned runs and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts.

Arkansas Coach Dave Van Horn missed Thursday night's game to attend his daughter Mariel's high school graduation from Shiloh Christian.

Van Horn will rejoin the Razorbacks for tonight's game and Saturday's series finale.

Arkansas' losing streak is its longest since a 12-game streak in 1965, a mark the Razorbacks will try to avoid matching tonight.

Mississippi State will go for its ninth SEC series victory, which would be its most ever.

The Razorbacks haven't won since April 30, when they beat Texas A&M 9-5 in the opener of a doubleheader.
