Evans changes mind, will transfer to Kansas

Arkansas running back Denzell Evans (34) carries the ball to the end zone Saturday, April 23, 2016, during the annual spring Red-White game in Razorback Stadium.

Denzell Evans has changed his mind and will transfer to Kansas, his brother announced Saturday on Twitter.

He originally announced his intention to transfer to SMU last month. Instead, he'll head to Kansas, where first-year Arkansas running backs coach Reggie Mitchell spent the last six seasons.

Evans played in 15 games during his career with the Razorbacks, mostly on special teams. He redshirted in 2013 and has 13 carries for 84 yards over the last two seasons.

With injuries limiting Kody Walker and Rawleigh Williams, Evans received more work during the Razorbacks' spring practices this year. He rushed for two touchdowns during Arkansas' spring game on April 23.

As a graduate transfer, Evans will be able to play immediately for the Jayhawks. He'll have two seasons of eligibility.
