Razorbacks make cut at NCAAs

The Arkansas women’s golf team suffered through its worst of three rounds Sunday, but still advanced to today’s final round of stroke play at the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore.

Arkansas, which entered Sunday in 10th place, finished at 10-over-par 298 and are now 17-over 881 for the tournament. That total puts the Razorbacks in a tie for 12th place with North Carolina, good enough to advance among the top 15 teams to today’s final round.

The Razorbacks are eight strokes behind Virginia and Arizona for the eighth and final place among teams that will advance to the match play portion of the tournament.

Maria Fassi was Arkansas’ best individual finisher Sunday. She birdied Nos. 6, 7, 10, 14 and 16 and finished 1-under 71 and is in a tie for 58th place individually. She’s 5 over for the tournament.

Alana Uriel finished 2 over and is in a tie for 27th. Cara Goriel entered the day tied for 26th overall at even par, but she had double bogeys on No. 1 and 12 and finished 4 over to fall to a tie for 45th.

Regina Plasencia was 6 over and is 9 over for the tournament, while Summar Roachell’s 5 over moved over to 15 over.

Southern California is in first place at 4-under 860, two strokes ahead of UCLA and Duke.

Duke freshman Virginia Elena Carta has a six-stroke lead at minus-13.
