Garland inks letter-of-intent with Arkansas

Khalil Garland

— Arkansas’ three four-star early signing period pieces are all signed, sealed and delivered.

Little Rock Parkview guard Khalil Garland (6-6, 190) - ranked as the 55th-best player nationally by ESPN.com. - become the final standout to come on board Friday afternoon when he signed with the Razorbacks.

He joined El Dorado center Daniel Gafford (6-11, 223) - ESPN's 48th-best player nationally - and Little Rock Mills forward Darious Hall (6-7, 210), who both inked with Arkansas on Wednesday as the week-long early signing period opened.

"All three of these young men are quality young men, great basketball players and fit what we are trying to do," Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson said. "I think they have a bright future with our program and we are very excited to have them be a part of our family."

Garland, a one-time Memphis commit, chose Arkansas over Alabama, LSU, Oregon, UALR, Memphis and others.

“Khalil is a combo guard that can bring another dimension to what we like to do,” Anderson said. “He is long, athletic and has the ability to attack the defense and distribute the ball. He has established himself as one of the elite players in the country.

“Khalil has incredible basketball IQ, knows how to score and makes everyone around him better with his passing ability. He plays with a big time motor and comes from a winning culture that captured the State Championship last season.

Khalil comes from a terrific family and we are ecstatic to add another Arkansas native to this dynamic recruiting class.”

Garland averaged 18 points and 8 rebounds last season while leading the Patriots to the Class 6A state title and being named the MVP of the event.

He also averaged 11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game in AAU basketball as part of Team Penny while playing on the Nike EYBL level.
