Fisher can see himself being a Razorback

Kyrie Fisher

— There will be at least one future Razorback and maybe two playing in Friday night’s big Oklahoma prep football battle between arch-rivals Jenks (11-0) and Union (9-2).

Jenks tailback/cornerback and Arkansas pledge Jordon Curtis (6-1, 180) is trying to lead his team to a fifth straight Class 6A state title.

Union linebacker Kyrie Fisher (6-2, 240) - who took an official visit to Arkansas this weekend - will be on the other side trying to keep that from happening.

"Last year was the same way," Fisher said. "We played them in the semifinals last year. They knocked us off. We lost earlier in the season (35-28), but this time we're coming back for redemption.”

The game has routinely drawn close to 20,000 fans.

"It's crazy, it's why everyone is there,” Fisher said. “It’s a good time.”

Fisher, who was hosted this weekend by injured Arkansas defensive back Kevin Richardson and injured linebacker Dre Greenlaw, was impressed with what he saw from the Razorbacks during the weekend.

"It was pretty good," Fisher said. "A lot of great people out here. It's a beautiful campus with great coaches.”

Fisher is currently committed to Minnesota, an offer he got before the one from Arkansas.

He says that he is looking hard at becoming a Razorback.

"Yes sir, it's closer to home," Fisher said. "There's a lot of good things out here."

"It came late (the Arkansas offer), but I knew the offers would start coming in late. Especially the ones closer to home so we'll just have to see how the cards play out."

Those are the two finalists for Fisher.

"Basically just these two," Fisher said. "I'm just focusing on my football season. I'm not focusing on anything college-wise until after football season is over."

He feels like his senior season has been successful.

"Pretty good," Fisher said. "Probably the best year I have had for sure. I'm faster, stronger, football smarts this year and everything went good."

While he wants to strengthen his game, Fisher has the confidence.

"I would say physicality," Fisher said. "Run stopping as well. My speed and size. I feel no one can block me. The stuff I am still working on, really everything. There's room for improvement."
