Trio of Arkansas OL commits ready to rumble

Arkansas' three offensive line commitments, Kirby Adcock, Shane Clenin and Dalton Wagner bonded during their weekend visits.

As Arkansas offensive line commits Shane Clenin (6-5, 280), Dalton Wagner (6-9, 315) and Kirby Adcock (6-5, 300) were arriving in Fayetteville for their official visits on Friday, Razorback offensive line coach Kurt Anderson sent out a tweet.

It was a picture of three professional wrestlers - the Undertaker, Kane and Kevin Nash - with the tagline ‘Big Recruiting Weekend.’

It was a big hit with the trio of pledges, all of whom will be enrolling in January.

"It was awesome," Wagner said. "It was very cool to see. He has always said me and Shane were the Brothers of Destruction (Undertaker and Kane) and with Kirby in there we were going to be a whole mess of trouble. I'm excited for it and can't wait to get this thing going."

Clenin echoed some of those same sentiments.

“I thought it was awesome,” Clenin said. “I mean he is really amped to just get us out here and get us going. It was pretty cool to see that he is as fired up as we are.”

Adcock liked it, too, but was curious as to which character he was, knowing that Wagner and his mullet provided a clue.

”I thought that was pretty cool," Adcock said. "I was trying to figure out which one was which. Obviously Dalton was the Undertaker with the hair. It was really awesome.”

The three are all from different states. Missouri is from Clenin, Arkansas from Adcock and Illinois from Wagner, but they have bonded together.

“They are just fantastic guys,” Clenin said. “I had met Kirby two times, but I had not met Dalton yet so it was good to see what he is about and kind of how we are all kind of the same in a way.”

The other two are not ready to grow mullets like Wagner although he has brought the subject up.

“He wants us to all grow out our hair, but I was just like I’ll just get an Afro,” Clenin said. “I can’t grow that stuff out.”

Adcock is not on board with the change in hair styles just yet.

"Mine gets all fro-ed so it would be pretty cool, but I don't know if I'll be able to do it," Adcock said.

Being able to come in at mid-term has them all excited, especially to work with strength and conditioning coach Ben Herbert.

"I think it will help tremendously," Wagner said. “…We will have six months and be in the winter conditioning as well as the strength and conditioning. In spring ball we will get to learn the offense.

"We will get a little break then be back in the summer for that eight-week summer program that gets you even bigger and faster. Then when fall camp comes around we already know some of the offense. We will have a Hoganese session too. This will help us be ready in the fall."

Clenin is ready to come to Fayetteville to stay.

“I think it is going to be tremendous,” Clenin said. “It is going to give all three of us a great start to make an impact when our name is called and to be able to play out there when we need to.

“Just to work with Coach Herb, get to know the playbook, get to know the plays is going to be a great opportunity.”

Adcock, whose unbeaten Nashville team is still in the playoffs, knows there will be a big change from high school to college.

"Yes, I'll get my body in shape and be more prepared for the speed of college football," Adcock said.
